One of the men behind the anti-Muslim film trailer on YouTube that has sparked violent protests at Western embassies across the Middle East, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, was taken in for questioning by federal probation officers early Saturday morning, law enforcement officials said.

I know why it’s being done and if he is on probation he can be called in for questioning at any time by probation officers - I get it. But….you know……..

It's certainly interesting, how all of a sudden his local supervision in CA needs to talk to him, and the Feds will kinda come by and see if he wants to chat.

Given the "and anything else as directed by your probation officer" is on the "agreement," this is a case where an undefined "well, you shouldn't have done that" will trigger a violation question, just because.

Remember: It's up to who is in charge and this portends a bad, bad precedent on both sides of the aisle....

We can both look at this dude's parole, and do that. Parole officers don't usually go abroad and hunt down people with AK47s.

It's really weird how many people think someone's rights are being violated because his parole-- which is basically "We reduced your punishment because you promised to not fuck up society any more than you already have" is being reviewed.

It's not that the parole violation is the issue I'm looking at as much as: It's the locals now calling him in and ....oh, by the way....the Feds will want to ask a few questions.

So....if the local supervision authority has things under control for his possible breach of his restrictions, what a coincidence that the Feds will show up now. Or at least the media is right on top of reporting that this is a joint questioning session pragmatically. It's a penumbra not to be dismissed for where the shadow will fall for someone else. That's the bigger issue.

If the CA DOC hauls him off, well, shame on him for breaking his rules. If he is put into the custody of the Feds...then we have an entirely different issue at hand.

No problem. There is really nothing at all weird about a guy on parole for fraud who's not allowed to use the internet getting pulled in for review after he obviously does some shit on the internet.

Well they let him go after 90 minutes, so I suspect they can't prove he violated his probation.

The term "use" legally would have to show he personally used it. If it wasn't his channel, and he was just in a video, or scripted it, and used a recording device of some sort to create it...who used the Internet to post it? That would be the rub for then cuffing him. Like it or not, they would have had to find he had the access and personally used it. Most likely, the digging into the story would show some other bonehead was the one to upload it.
